Reading NDBC 46022

NDBC station 46022 (Eel River) is the nearest NOAA buoy. It sits 17 NM WSW of Eureka at 40.716 N 124.540 W, per the NDBC station page.

Read wind, wave height and period there, and compare them with the NWS Eureka marine forecast. Because the buoy is 17 NM offshore, it reports open-ocean conditions and says little about the bar.

  • Wind: speed and direction at the station
  • Wave height: significant wave height in feet
  • Period: dominant wave period in seconds
